Syfy is running an “The Invaders” marathon today. I kinda remember watching this. It’s not a bad production.

CowTV is pleased to bring you highlights from the 2nd Annual 2009 HighBall Halloween - Costume Contest. Touted this year as, “a cross between Carnivale and Mardi Gras with a pinch of Halloween and a healthy splash of the Short North’s artistic spirit.” – the event was certainly all that and more! The crowd was HUGE – it was estimated to be somewhere between 15 and 20K (that thousands Dorothy…) Costumes of all shapes, sizes and colors displayed the unique and creative variety that you can only seem to find at a Short North event. When we arrived, it was clear “the spot” to be was right along the stage area. Located mid-distance on a closed-off High Street – between 3rd Ave. and 5th Ave. – the massive stage provided the focal point of activity. When DJ Moxy started spinning, the crowd got moving – then, Host Nina West took to the stage – a commanding presence alone! Not long after greeting a few familiar faces in the crowd, zombies started slowly creeping up onto the stage – you know, because zombies are good at creeping….then….the sounds of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” erupted over the huge speaker system. What happened next had the whole crowd’s attention captured – held captive – a synchronized dance routine involving Nina West and a troupe of zombies moved and grooved to “Thriller”. The moment the music stopped, the massive crowd of thousands expressed their approval with thunderous cheers and applause. What a way to start a mere costume contest – wow!
Congrats to John Angelo, head of the Short North Business Association, the group responsible for the event and the many, many others who came out in costume and helped pull off yet another PHANTASMAGORIC HALLOWEEN EVENT! Can’t wait to see what happens next year!
Enjoy the footage…it’s a quick ride, but all the costume contest participants are there, so site back and enjoy….leave a comment and tell everyone your favorite part of the evening or who you thought had the BEST COSTUME!
Oh yeah….one last thing….CowTV has signed “Alien Pimp” to an exclusive contract for starring in a new show – as always – stay tuned!

Good thing we brought along an extra pair of “streak-free” pants!
O.K…..so it was more like a “shart” that occurred due to the scare-factor at the TerrorFest. One thing is especially true about this seasonal Halloween haunt – it’s long. Yep…it’s long and when it comes to haunted houses – THAT’S A GOOD THING! The dark winding maze of scares, strobe-lights, zombies, corpses, and creeps kept going and going and going (the skull wall is especially cool). It’s like those commercials for enlarged prostates – you know, where the guy keeps going and going – whatever, I digress…
TerrorFest – Brewery District – OPEN THIS HALLOWEEN WEEKEND – starting Thursday and running all weekend – is a perfect ingredient to an overall Halloween experience. Sure, you’ve got the costume party you always go to where the hot chicks wear next to nuthin’ and rub on each other – but that’s only one night and the weekend starts on Thursday’s now anyway. So, you’ve got plenty of time to squeeze-in your own “experience” at the TerrorFest. Loads and loads of actors are there to scare you – simple, yet disturbing concept. Just like the people we talked to who had just gone through – you’ll like it too and agree that it’s worth your attention. Get a group together – smoke a bowl – go have fun…..and be prepared to jump in fright!
ps – back on that subject of hot chicks rubbing on each other – if you snap a few photos….well….it’s always nice to share – especially with pals at CowTV! Happy Halloween!
