CowTV visits CaJohn’s Fiery Foods and gets familiar with the world of spicy HEAT!
cowtv Add commentsDo you have a “spice for life”? – consider yourself a “red hot lover”? – like to sweat when you eat food or think that eating food should be a “painful experience”? – huh? what? “sweat when you eat” – “painful experience”? Maybe you just like to feel the warm burn of spice added to your food. Oh, and then there’s the ever-familiar “monkey butt” face (you know, that face you make when the heat from the peppers the night before is now “exiting” your body).
Take a look, because it’s JANUARY – for the most part, IT’S COLD! In some areas, it’s considered DAMN COLD! and then there’s the plain old INSANELY COLD (Hello Chicago, Minnesota, Cleveland, Denver, and pretty much all of North Dakota…. are you paying attention? Buffalo – “home of the chicken wing” – does this look familiar?)!
Well, CowTV thought we’d try to heat things up for all of you – give you a reminder of warmer times – let you know that you can create your own thermal heat source. To accomplish our quest for heat, CowTV went to visit CaJohn’s Firey Foods and talk to Mr. Heat Miser himself, John Hard. John is a true task-master making a huge variety of items to help all of us turn-up-the-heat where and when we want. NOTE – and it’s not just the frigid cold spots in the U.S. who benefit from the spice of the pepper – Dallas, Houston, L.A., Phoenix, Hot-lanta – you know what we’re talking about…
FYI – this is kind-of a long piece to watch, but it’s worth the time – you’ll be amazed at the variety of hot sauces, salsa’s, BBQ sauces, and dry spice mixes that exist in just one fiery facility. We’ve added a brief intermission about mid-way through so you can take break, use the bathroom, get another beer or walk your dolphin.
Send us a picture of your best “monkey butt face” – we’ll post a few and the ones we post we’ll send you a couple bottles of liquid heat to use on your next batch of wings, chili, eggs, or whatever you put a dash or twelve on. Remember… it’s all good!
Heat it up – eat it up – ENJOY!

Hot wings – good.
Hotter wings – better
Must include cold beer!
why are B-dubs wings so much smaller than others? 45cents per wing is a crime – I’ve been makin’ my own for a lot less and much better tasting for a long time – try it. Get a 5 lb. bag and boil em – stick em on a baking sheet to crisp em up in the oven – then add the hot sauce – simple to make, bigger wings and less expensive.

Cows are very tasty with hot sauce. Great piece CowTV! CaJohn makes some of the finest products I have ever had. Oaxacan, best taco sauce is my favorite, and Macioce’s which I am probably spelled wrong is such a great tasting salsa it is awesome with chili. So many great products and it is hard to list them all. Thanks for the Short Bus shout out as well!
Oh yeah, you wanted proof, check out the video proof of the Short Bus krewe taking on some of CaJohn’s hottest sauces: http://www.tastethefear.com/?p=576

Hey CowTV! Great piece about CaJohn, the Masster of Disasster!
Check out the hot sauce selection at Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield where you’ll find the “Short Bus” hot sauce by Cape Fear Pepper Company! So good it’ll make the cows come back home!

John’s a great guy and longtime friend. His products are excellent and often very innovative. He has a wry sense of humor and a lot of stories about the hot sauce biz, events, etc.

Great article and video!
So what’s this Short Bus stuff all about?
CaJohn’s stories are always a lot of fun to listen too. I can’t believe you were able to squeeeze it all down to just 30 minutes!
I’ve been to John’s shop a couple of times now and it’s always the highlight of my visits to Ohio. It’s a “must see” for anyone that’s in the area.
Hey, all that sauce, and not one mention of the collectibles. Another area of the sauce biz that John’s a master at.

One of my friends told me that Caboom Cajohn’s no longer sells Devil Dogs. Is this true? I was really sad…. I freaking loved the Devil Dogs. I made a special trip to the North Market every time I visited Columbus just for one of those things!
